Meet Pat
I have a passion to empower you to take charge of your job and transform it into something that adds satisfaction to your life rather than subtracts hours from it. I've redesigned my job, too, but it's been a rocky road. I'm a recovering Alpha Boss--the kind who drove my team nuts--all the way to the top of my profession. Yet I'd never been more miserable, and none of my team was getting any joy out of work. Stress was our daily diet. As business owners, we tend to think we have all the answers, and I sure believed I knew how to manage people--hadn't I pushed us to the top of our mountain? So why was everyone so miserable?
To find the answers took years of study on my part--with Dan Sullivan, Kathy Kolbe, Tim O'Brien and Marcia Wieder, to name just a few of my expert mentors. After all that input, I got clear about my own purpose: To inspire myself and others to develop our internal passions and to fulfill our full potential.
Over time, I learned how to be more effective, how to run a business more productively and how to find more balance in my life. Once I believed I'd uncovered some real keys to creating a happy working environment--for myself as well as my staff--I started to share what I head learned by facilitating Team Dreamers Workshops™ for other business owners and their teams. After years of refining those workshops and getting great feedback from participants, I decided to write this book. It also grew out of my experiences as an employer, owning and operating a State Farm Insurance and Financial Services business for the past 29 years--and my rebirth as a Better Boss.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, I continue to enjoy living and writing in my country cottage on the meandering banks of the Willamette River. As one of five children, I worked my way through college at Western Washington University. I'm extremely proud of my three adult children, my one grandchild and twin grandbabies on the way. After three decades, I continue to love my business and in particular the great people who make up my team.
For fun--and when you read my book you'll see how much I value that--I enjoy many outdoor activities, including: skiing, biking, hiking, scuba diving, rowing, golf and last but certainly not least, puttering around in my garden.
I want to have a conversation with you, which is why I've written this book as if we were chatting over grande soy lattes--or whatever your beverage of choice is--I'm not picky. I also hope you'll let me know your reactions to these ideas, because I really am on a mission to show every woman in America how to find more joy in her job. Hey, there's nothing wrong with dreaming big!
That's exactly what I want for you--that ideal job that relieves your stress, brings you joy and fills you with deep satisfaction. I believe all the way down to the tips of my toes, that it's possible for you to flourish doing work you love.
I'd love to hear from you about your reaction to this process, about the fun you're having on the job, about the creative ways you've reinvented your work life. Zip me an email at:
